![]() Who else owned a Stella 12-String similar to the one pictured here? FYI: Mine lacked the white pickguard. I had located the address from Pete and had saved up the deposit on a Francis but the waiting period was over a year, and I was quite unsure of being able to have the balance due so it was never actioned.Īfter a quarter-century hiatus, and after first acquiring two six string Martins ( J-28OM- Custom Shop- and OM-21 ) I Finally acquired a Taylor GA4-12, which is a perfect, eminently playable fingerstyle twelve ( D-D with light gauge strings ) A somewhat extended delay, but satisfying at the end. These were large classical style with beam necks- but with extremely light gauge strings. ![]() In Toronto there was a new line of Mexican 12 strings- in the event none survived the first Canadian winter, as best I can tell. The acceptable Harmony Sovereign 12 came years later and the Gibson B-45-12 also. A Crate, and virtually unplayable without a capo on the fourth fret, I soon disposed of it. I can only say that it was a travesty on a respectable name. In 1961 the "Stella", made by Harmony was all I could afford, or have available in Canada.
